Project Introduction
Bong Mine is located in the southwestern part of Bong County in central Liberia and is a large open-pit iron ore mine. The Bong Mine Railway, with a total length of 85 kilometers, serves as the vital link between the mine and the port, acting as a major economic artery that drives Liberia’s economic development.
In early 2023, Wuhan Jinshenghua Railway Locomotive Co., Ltd. undertook the comprehensive project of transport organization management and operation-and-maintenance services for Liberia’s Bong Mine Railway. In just six months, the company completed the full-line rehabilitation and successfully reopened the railway to traffic. Thanks to continuous investment and equipment upgrades, the Bong Mine Railway’s annual transport capacity has now increased to 3 million tonnes, and the railway is steadily progressing toward its target of 6 million tonnes per year.
