On August 29, local time, a symposium titled "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War," hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Liberia, was successfully held in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia. The event was themed "Remembering History, Honoring Our Martyrs, and Promoting the Great Spirit of the War of Resistance." Ambassador Yin Chengwu of the Chinese Embassy in Liberia attended and delivered a speech, joined by Political Counselor Fan Erwei, Commercial Counselor Zhang Yimin, and more than 60 representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises, institutions, and overseas Chinese communities in Liberia. Hu Guangjin, Chairman and General Manager of the company, as well as Executive Vice President of the Liberia Chinese Overseas Chamber of Commerce, was invited to attend and delivered remarks on behalf of local Chinese businesses and the overseas Chinese community.

Before the symposium began, the attendees collectively visited the exhibition of historical photographs from China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and watched the war-themed film "The Hundred Regiments Offensive," reliving those magnificent, inspiring, and unforgettable years while deeply appreciating the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation—its courageous struggle and unwavering resilience.

Ambassador Yin stated in his speech that the great victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was a vital component of the global victory against fascism. At a critical juncture when the nation faced imminent peril, it was the Communist Party of China that led and propelled the rise and development of the nationwide resistance effort. We must remember history, honor our martyrs, and strive to become inheritors of the inspiring spirit of the War of Resistance—as well as guardians of China's grand cause of national reunification and promoters of China-Laos friendship. Together, let us work hand in hand to build a China-Africa community with a shared future, contributing tirelessly to the noble endeavor of national rejuvenation.

In his speech, Mr. Hu expressed his profound honor at being invited to participate in this symposium—it is not only a privilege but also a weighty responsibility. He emphasized that the great victory achieved 80 years ago utterly erased centuries of national humiliation for the Chinese people and firmly reestablished China’s status as a global power. History profoundly reminds us that our nation’s strength provides the most solid foundation for every overseas Chinese child. Even though we are far away in Africa, we never forget our history and remain deeply grateful for the hard-won peace and development we enjoy today.

As a representative of a company deeply rooted in the African market and the head of an overseas Chinese association, Mr. Hu shared his personal experiences, emphasizing that the best way to honor the past is by carrying forward its spirit through practical actions and forging ahead with determination to create a brighter future. He highlighted the company's active participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, tracing its journey from Guinea and Indonesia to Liberia. Notably, he introduced the Bang Mine Railway Rehabilitation Project, which was successfully completed in just six months—enabling full-line operation—and has since seen continuous investment and equipment upgrades, boosting annual transport capacity to 1.5 million tons. Additionally, he revealed that three new locomotives will soon arrive at Monrovia Port, injecting fresh momentum into the ongoing operations of the Bang Mine Railway.

Centered around the theme "Carrying Forward the Great Spirit of the War of Resistance and Uniting Forces for National Rejuvenation," General Manager Hu outlined an action plan: First, stay committed to our posts with professionalism and pragmatism, contributing tangible efforts to China's overseas endeavors and enhancing the global reputation of "Made in China" and "Chinese Services." Second, steadily advance the construction of the Bangui-Mining Railway, striving to increase its annual transport capacity to 3 million tons—or even 6 million tons—thereby driving local economic growth through efficient logistics and injecting fresh momentum into the Belt and Road Initiative. Finally, deepen local partnerships by strengthening employee localization programs and fostering technology transfer, ensuring that every role becomes a vibrant bridge for promoting China-Africa friendship and showcasing the inspiring story of "shared development and common prosperity" through practical collaboration.

He concluded by calling for us to "carry forward the aspirations of our predecessors, working hand in hand across the vast African land to write a patriotic chapter worthy of this new era," and sincerely wished our great motherland continued prosperity and the enduring strength of the ever-deepening China-Africa friendship.
