Crossing Three Oceans to Rush Aid to the Bangui–Mongbwalu Railway! Wuhan Jinsheng Hua Shifa Ships Urgent Supplies to Liberia, Providing Robust Support for the Belt and Road Initiative

Release time:2026-04-25

On April 25, a shipment of critical railway equipment from Wuhan Jinshenghua Railway Locomotive Co., Ltd. departed from Tianjin Port bound for Liberia, where it will be used to upgrade the transport capacity of the Bong Mines Railway.

This shipment includes 20 railway vehicles with a 60-ton load capacity, 50 sets of couplers and associated spare parts, and two Dongfeng-series diesel locomotives. In alignment with the Bangkuang Railway’s capacity expansion plan and the mine’s transportation needs, the company meticulously customized this equipment package. To ensure on-time delivery, Chairman and General Manager Hu Guangjin led multiple on-site coordination missions to the Qiqihar Rolling Stock Factory, overseeing and coordinating every stage of the procurement, production, and allocation processes. Prior to shipment, the two diesel locomotives underwent comprehensive overhaul and maintenance and were painted in a custom livery, while the 60-ton vehicles and coupler components were transported from Qiqihar to Tianjin Port and loaded onto the vessel on schedule.

Wuhan Jinshenghua is a national-level high-tech enterprise and an ISO-certified organization, holding qualifications in locomotive driver training issued by the National Railway Administration, corporate vocational skills assessment and certification, foreign labor cooperation, and overseas investment. The company is the first private railway enterprise in China to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and the only domestic private railway service provider capable of operating and maintaining 10,000-ton train traction services abroad.

The Bong Mine in Liberia is a large open-pit iron ore mine. The 85-kilometer-long Bong Mine Railway connects the mine to the seaport. In early 2023, Wuhan Jinshenghua took over the organization of rail transport, track maintenance, and end-to-end operations and maintenance for the Bong Mine Railway. Following the project’s launch, the company completed the full-line track renovation and rehabilitation in just six months, restoring rail service. Through continuous investment in equipment and technological upgrades, the railway’s annual transport capacity has now increased to 1.5 million tonnes.

As Bang Mine’s production capacity comes online, the existing transportation capacity is increasingly proving inadequate. The complete set of equipment being shipped this time will embark on a two-month ocean voyage, crossing the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans before being put into operation on the Bang Mine railway. Once commissioned, overall transport capacity is expected to increase by 50%, providing the necessary hardware support for the mine’s scaled-up production.

Since 2023, Wuhan Jinhuasheng has cumulatively dispatched eight shipments of specialized supplies to Liberia. The company will continue to focus on overseas railway operations and maintenance, constantly enhance service quality, and provide reliable transportation support for China–Africa economic and trade cooperation.
